The Special Collections Research Center is pleased to announce a new exhibit featuring a selection of manuscripts, early printed books, and artifacts illustrating Mesopotamian, Greek, Islamic, and Western European astronomies. Join the curators on Thursday, 12 January, 4-6p in the Hatcher Gallery for a reception celebrating the opening of the exhibit followed by an exhibit tour.

Newly featured on the Islamic Manuscript Studies research guide --- a selection of resources for the study of watermarks, especially useful for Islamic manuscript cultural contexts. A selection of these resources was first published 5 September 2012 on a retired blog platform and subsequently enhanced and updated.

In early April, we welcomed conservator and researcher Cheryl Porter to campus for a lecture and 3-day workshop. In this post, Marieka Kaye (U-M Library Head of Conservation & Book Repair) offers us an overview of the workshop which explored the colors used by artists working in the Islamic and European traditions of the medieval era.
