We'd like to share the details about a video game-related talk happening in the library next week: This presentation is an exploration of the intersections of video game building, meaningful learning, Indigenous and Western cultures through relation-oriented ontologies - rather than aspect- or object- oriented ones. From the tech that is used to the land and waters the event is hosted on - these connections matter, weaving networks of relations across digital and physical heterotopic borders.

Working at the Design Lab has allowed me to do “something new” on at least 3 different levels: (1) Learning how to do new skills; (2)Working as a “librarian” assistant; and (3) Cutting edge technology and topics. I never would have guessed I would be working in a library. Working as a resident of the library has opened my eyes to how much I share in common with librarians who like myself want to encourage the dissemination of information as well as culture, science, and truthful exploration of information.

Late in the Winter term, several students from Kelli Wood's class (HISTART 194: Video Games - Cultures in Play) presented their final projects in the Duderstadt Gallery, in an exhibition entitled, "Are Video Games Art?" The exhibition included several meaningful presentations, and highlighted some of the game systems in the CVGA. We wanted to share some pictures from the event with you.
