The library Student Ambassadors hosted the annual Postcard Writing event right outside the Shapiro Undergraduate Library on Friday, September 26th from 2-5 PM. Our booth was packed to the brim with hot chocolate, swag like pens, sticky notes, and the like, and of course: cute squirrel postcards for the students. From what I had heard about the event in previous years from the other Ambassadors, the event was incredibly popular with students– especially with our international students, who were very excited to message their friends and family.
I can confidently say that these anecdotes did not disappoint. Even though I was only able to staff the table for the latter half of the event, it was practically overflowing with students the entire time I was there, since everyone seemed very thrilled to get the chance to send a postcard or two.
While working, I answered students’ questions, told them about our role at the library as Student Ambassadors and showed them how to properly format their postcards. A few students were initially confused with what the event was for, but they quickly came around when I explained that we were here to encourage students to learn more about the library and the services it provided to them. It was really exciting being able to teach my peers about what the library had to offer.
