Don't miss "Handwritten Heritage: Arabic Texts in Manuscript" on display March 5th - April 13th in the Special Collections Exhibit Gallery (660J) on the 6th floor of Hatcher! The exhibit features a selection of iconic Arabic texts from the holdings of the Islamic Manuscripts Collection preserved in the University Library.

The manuscript currently preserved in our library under the shelfmark Isl. Ms. 350 has a fascinating history that can be traced in internal owners’ marks and external documentary sources. Produced in Delhi, the manuscript was acquired by the library in 1924 along with several hundred other manuscripts from Istanbul that came to be known as the "Abdul Hamid Collection." Don't miss "Of Love and Madness: The Literary History of Layla and Majnun," on display October 7th - February 22nd in the Papyrology Cases on the 7th floor of Hatcher! This exhibit features Persian and Turkish illuminated manuscripts from the Islamic Manuscripts Collection, a couple of Azerbaijani imprints from the general collections, and even a papyrus fragment!
