This month was a busy time for the CVGA, mostly due to our Gender & Gaming Symposium that took place in the Hatcher Gallery. We also got several new games in our collection, including Madden NFL 16 and Super Mario Maker, both featured in our top 10 games list for October. In addition, we saw a couple of older favorites make the list, including The Last of Us and Guitar Hero III.

This past month was filled with FIFA across the board, with FIFA 15 being played over twice as much as any other game in our collection. Other new fan favorites also made the list, including Bloodborne and Dragon Age. And not one, but two copies of Super Smash Bros. Melee made the list this month, showing the lasting popularity of the game on campus.

We have an interesting batch of games on our top 10 list this month. With our hours reduced and lots of regular faces in the archive, we got to see everyone's favorite games make the list, including an Atari game (possibly for the first time).
Also, just a reminder that our Fall expanded hours will start on Tuesday, September 8th. They'll also be a little different this year as we close an hour earlier than last year (8pm) and do away with our Saturday hours. So get your gaming in during the week while you can!

We'd like to welcome new and returning students to campus this week by holding a Super Smash Bros. tournament! We'll also have other casual gaming opportunities, including Splatoon for the Wii U. We'll be partnering with Ann Arbor District Library as we share information about local gaming on and off campus at your local libraries.

The event is free, and we're offering prizes for the winners of the tournament. Hope you can join us!

This month has been the month of tours, families, and people of all ages coming to check out what the archive has to offer and playing games. As such, we see a lot more Nintendo games on the list than usual, including a Super Nintendo game. Way to go, Mario.
We have one more month of unrestricted Smash, so get your games in before the Fall semester begins!

Here are our top games played in the archive during the month of June. Multiple versions of Smash rise in popularity as people take advantage of the fact that they can play it anytime we're open during the Summer. Splatoon quickly rises to make it on our list, even though we haven't had it for long.

Also, a reminder that our hours for the Summer term are currently Wed-Fri 1-5pm, so enjoy the lovely Summer weather on Mondays and Tuesdays for the next couple months. (Or play Smash at a friend's house in anticipation of playing it at the archive - whatever you prefer.)

Here is our list of most popular games played in the archive during the month of March. This month's list has a good spread of different genres and consoles, and we had four different Nintendo games almost make the list, being in the top 20.

Our own Lisa Nakamura will be giving a talk in the Hatcher Gallery on Friday April 3. Hope you can make it!

Here is our list of most popular games during the month of February. The Xbox 360 and Xbox One capitalize almost the entire list, with Smash making an appearance on the Top 10 list for the first time in quite awhile. The game series has dominated Fridays at the CVGA more and more this semester, with students even bringing in their own game disks and controllers in order to get as many simultaneous games of Smash going at the same time as possible.

The popularity of FIFA in the archive continues to amaze. It was played 84 times in January, compared to #2 in our list of most popular games below, which was played only 34 times. Quite the disparity for one game franchise. We were also happy to see some new titles make the list, not to mention a good turnout of the current gen consoles. It doesn't look like the Xbox 360 will be falling out of favor anytime soon, though.
