Therapaws in the Library

On April 10th and 15th, the Library Student Ambassadors collaborated with the Humane Society of Huron Valley, Therapaws of Michigan, and the library's Sense of Belonging team to bring therapy dogs to the library, one of our repeated semester events! The event was hosted in the lobby of the Shapiro Library, and students were able to come and hang out with some furry friends, make puppy-themed buttons, and pick up some cool swag, like posters, sticky notes, and candy!

The Library Ambassadors helped students make some Therapaws-themed buttons with the button maker, and it was a big hit! There were a bunch of different designs to choose from — some were of current and previous pups that have come to Therapaws events in other semesters, and some were puppy-themed designs created by our Ambassadors.

Students work on crafts at a table, while others surround a therapy dog.

Students could pick from any of our available button designs, and then we showed them how to make the button themselves, or we offered to do it for them if that’s what they preferred!

We had so many pups make an appearance this semester — some new, and some old! But students loved getting to spend time with all of these furry friends, and it was a great time and place to de-stress from the chaos of studying for finals and wrapping up the academic year.
