Books to Support National Novel Writing Month

Each month select items from the Shapiro Undergraduate Library collection are put on display in the Shapiro Lobby to highlight a special topic or theme.  For November we have gathered together books to support writers, in honor of National Novel Writing Month.

The books cover a variety of writing topics.  From the editors of Writer's Digest, check out The Complete Handbook of Novel Writing: Everything You Need to Know to Create & Sell Your Work.  If someone beats you to the shelf, we also have this book online.

For a focus on more specific aspects of writing,  you may want to consider A Writer's Guide to Active Setting : How to Enhance Your Fiction With More Descriptive, Dynamic Settings or Narrative Design: a Writer's Guide to Structure.

You can also find books on writing specfic types of fiction such as  The Key : How to Write Damn Good Fiction Using the Power of Myth, Flash! : Writing the Very Short Story, or Writing and Illustrating the Graphic Novel.

Finally, there are even books for those of you who write things other than fiction such as non-fiction or screenplays, or for authors who are seeking a particular perspective (The Global Novel: Writing the World in the 21st Century)

For a complete list of the books on display for November 2018, or to locate the books after the display comes down, please see the full list here.
