As part of our 10th anniversary, we're pleased to share with you a timeline of events and milestones that have shaped and highlighted our collection and services over the years. Also, a reminder that we will be having a party on Friday, November 16th from 3-5pm in the Duderstadt Center basement area (just outside the archive space) to continue the celebrations. Enjoy!
2018
Celebrated our 10th anniversary
Held the Art & Gaming Symposium in the Hatcher Gallery
Obtained a couple of new gaming computers ("Gryffin" with Windows 10, and a laptop that dual-boots Windows 98/2000)
Revamped our CVGA Disassembled online exhibit to include more image interactivity and accessibility options
2017
Partnered with Prof. Kelli Wood for her “Are Video Games Art?” exhibition in the Duderstadt Gallery.
Reached 7,000 games in the collection
Purchased a PlayStation VR and started adding VR games to the collection
Started adding Switch games and equipment to the collection
2016
Curated a video game exhibit called Winteractive in the Hatcher Gallery
Started adding games and equipment to the collection from other gaming regions around the world
2015
Held the Gender & Gaming Symposium in the Hatcher Gallery
Reached 6,000 games in the collection
Partnered with Ann Arbor District Library to hold a Smash Tournament on central campus
Added a Nintendo 3DS XL to the collection
2014
Reached 5,000 games in the collection
Began collecting tabletop roleplaying books
Added an iPad Air to the collection and began purchasing mobile games
2013
Celebrated our 5th anniversary with a number of events
First created our CVGA Disassembled online exhibit
Held a Motion Gaming Tournament in the CVGA
Started adding PlayStation 4 games and equipment to the collection
Started adding Xbox One games and equipment to the collection
Started adding Wii U games and equipment to the collection
Added the Arcade Legends machine to the collection
2012
Held a Girls’ Gaming Group in the CVGA during the Winter semester
Held a Smash Tournament in the CVGA
Reached 4,000 games in the collection
Purchased a PlayStation Vita and started adding Vita games to the collection
Obtained a new gaming computer ("Phoenix" computer with Windows 7)
Obtained two Amiga computers and began collecting Amiga games
2011
Moved to a larger space in the basement of the Duderstadt Center
Held a Water Game Carnival in the CVGA in conjugation with the university’s water-themed semester
Held a Zombie Game Tournament in the CVGA
Started adding game-related books to the CVGA
Reached 3,000 games in the collection
Added a Nintendo 3DS to the collection
Began collecting board games
2010
Held a Retro Game Tournament in the CVGA
Held a Smash Tournament in the CVGA
Reached 2,000 games in the collection
Added an Xbox 360 with the Kinect to the collection
Added a PlayStation Move to the collection
2009
Held a Racing Game Tournament in the CVGA
Reached 1,000 games in the collection
Added a Nintendo DSi to the collection

Held a grand opening for the archive in November
Held a soft opening for the archive in September
