Interested in creating adaptive and accessible video game technology? Looking to learn which video games are the best of the best when it comes to accessibility? Just looking to game? The library is hosting two accessible and adaptive gaming events in April! The CVGA is also working to add more accessible and adaptive gaming equipment to its collection.
As part of our 10th anniversary, we're pleased to share with you a timeline of events and milestones that have shaped and highlighted our collection and services over the years. In just a couple of short weeks, the CVGA will be involved in an Art & Gaming Symposium, which will bring together academics, game makers, and game players to discuss the role of art in gaming. How is art reflected in games? How does one create art through games? How do we view games as art? These questions will be explored through speakers, panels and discussion in a one-day symposium on Saturday, April 7, 2018, on the campus of the University of Michigan & the Ann Arbor District Library.
Late in the Winter term, several students from Kelli Wood's class (HISTART 194: Video Games - Cultures in Play) presented their final projects in the Duderstadt Gallery, in an exhibition entitled, "Are Video Games Art?" We'd like to welcome new and returning students to campus this week by holding a Super Smash Bros. tournament! We'll also have other casual gaming opportunities, including Splatoon for the Wii U. We'll be partnering with Ann Arbor District Library as we share information about local gaming on and off campus at your local libraries.
The event is free, and we're offering prizes for the winners of the tournament. Hope you can join us!
