Since the inception of the CVGA fifteen years ago we have been fortunate to receive a large number of donated games and equipment for our collection. In fact, nearly half of the 10,000 games in the CVGA were donated to us! We are very grateful to the community at large for your generosity in helping us to build one of the premier game libraries in the country.
Due to overall changes in procedures for gifts-in-kind in the University Library, we are no longer able to accept unsolicited game donations in the CVGA. This does not mean that we aren't willing or able to accept donations! But it does mean that we have to ask that prior to sending or bringing us games please contact us first at video.games@umich.edu with an itemized list of the games and equipment that you would like to donate, so that we can check against our collection records to see what we need. We will then let you know which items we are able to accept and work with you to coordinate delivery or drop-off.
The goal here is not to stop game donations to the CVGA, but to reduce time spent processing items that are ultimately not needed.
