Register Now | Mapping Austen’s World: Movement and Journeys in the 19th Century | January 19, 2018

In honor of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, the Nineteenth-Century Forum and the University of Michigan Library are excited to offer a one-day interdisciplinary conference on Friday, January 19, 2018, exploring movement, mapping, and margins within the late-eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Miranda Burgess (University of British Columbia) will give a keynote on “transport” in the Romantic period, while morning and afternoon sessions will feature graduate students approaching journeys and boundaries in the nineteenth century from a range of disciplines. See the complete conference schedule here.

Attendance is free, but we ask that participants register by January 10, 2018, as space for some sessions is limited. A complimentary lunch will be served for those who register.

This conference is offered in conjunction with the University of Michigan Library exhibit “The Life and Times of Lizzy Bennet,” and is made possible in large part due to the generous support of Leslie and Hillary Keyes through the  Daniel Keyes Family Fund for the Special Collections Library.

We also invite you to enhance your Austen experience by attending the Clark Library's Third Thursday the evening before, on January 18, 2018, from 4:00-7:00pm: A Truth Universally Acknowledged: Mapping the World of Jane Austen.
