A Lecture and Two Workshops on Greek Paleography

You are all cordially invited to attend the public lecture, The Place of Greek Paleography in the Cultural and Literary History of Byzantium. Professor Elena Velkovska (University of Siena, Italy) will help us understand the international significance of the many treasured and valuable Byzantine Greek liturgical manuscripts held in the U-M Library's Special Collections Research Center. She will focus on the importance of Greek paleography and its interconnectedness with the cultural and literary history of the Byzantine millennium. Light refreshments will be served following the lecture.

Place: Room 660D, Special Collections Research Center, 6th floor Hatcher Library.

Date: March 15, 4:00 pm-5:00 pm.

The lecture will be followed by two workshops on Greek Paleography.  Anyone from the campus or broader community with knowledge of ancient or modern Greek can take part.
