We got a donation earlier this month with a number of older game gems, including Frogger the Board Game. The inside bears quite a resemblance to the video game screen that most of us are familiar with. We also got a number of Atari 5200 and Atari Lynx games in the donation, several with really interesting covers.

Here are our most popular games played in the archive during the month of January. FIFA definitely tops the list, with the Xbox One version finally surpassing the Xbox 360 version. The new Star Wars Battlefront falls shortly behind, also causing a resurgence of the older PlayStation 2 Battlefront game further down the list.

Welcome to the new year, everyone. We've tallied up the list of most popular games in the archive during 2015, and posted them below. We have the usual list of sports games and first-person shooters, but were also happy to see the new Smash on the list, as well as Mario Kart. Which games do you think will be the most popular for 2016?

We recently acquired access to several game add-ons of note, and thought we'd share them here in case you'd like to check them out in the CVGA. Which ones do you recognize/remember playing when they first came out? We'd love to hear in the comments.

November was definitely dominated by FIFA players. Though we got several new games (including Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, Mad Max, The Phantom Pain, Forza 6, etc.), the classics won our top 10 list for this month, including Guitar Hero, Smash and Call of Duty.
To find out what other new games have been added to our collection, check out the new games feed on our website here.

Over the past couple weeks, we received a couple of interesting donations, including a Sega Pico and a Memorex VIS. The games that came with them were mostly centered towards the education of children, with a few others thrown in.

This month was a busy time for the CVGA, mostly due to our Gender & Gaming Symposium that took place in the Hatcher Gallery. We also got several new games in our collection, including Madden NFL 16 and Super Mario Maker, both featured in our top 10 games list for October. In addition, we saw a couple of older favorites make the list, including The Last of Us and Guitar Hero III.

This past month was filled with FIFA across the board, with FIFA 15 being played over twice as much as any other game in our collection. Other new fan favorites also made the list, including Bloodborne and Dragon Age. And not one, but two copies of Super Smash Bros. Melee made the list this month, showing the lasting popularity of the game on campus.

We have an interesting batch of games on our top 10 list this month. With our hours reduced and lots of regular faces in the archive, we got to see everyone's favorite games make the list, including an Atari game (possibly for the first time).
Also, just a reminder that our Fall expanded hours will start on Tuesday, September 8th. They'll also be a little different this year as we close an hour earlier than last year (8pm) and do away with our Saturday hours. So get your gaming in during the week while you can!

We'd like to welcome new and returning students to campus this week by holding a Super Smash Bros. tournament! We'll also have other casual gaming opportunities, including Splatoon for the Wii U. We'll be partnering with Ann Arbor District Library as we share information about local gaming on and off campus at your local libraries.
The event is free, and we're offering prizes for the winners of the tournament. Hope you can join us!
