The U-M Library’s Shapiro Design Lab and the U-M Museum of Natural History invite applications for this year's Community and Citizen Science Project Fellows program for University of Michigan faculty, staff, and students.
Community and citizen science projects can help scientists conduct extensive, quality research while collaboratively engaging with members of their community. The program will explore questions about project design, ethics, learning goals, and data management. Participants will create project prototypes for their own research and community engagement, and develop the skills and expertise needed for successful projects. The program is led by Justin Schell, Director of the Shapiro Design Lab and Kira Berman, Assistant Director for Education at the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History.
Participation in the program will consist of attending four workshops, which will be a mix of information on community + citizen science as well as hands-on development of your project, as well as a public presentation at the U-M Natural History Museum as part of their Scientist Spotlight program.
After completing the program, participants will become University of Michigan Museum of Natural History Community and Citizen Science Fellows. Benefits include:
