Creating Chidori’s Headpiece from Scratch!

Have you ever had one of those moments where you try something new and feel like you've unlocked a whole new world of possibilities? That was me when I realized all of the crazy designs I’ve dreamed of creating could be possible using the Shapiro lab printer.

This year, I wanted my Halloween costume to stand out. What better way to do that than by creating a sword that went right through my head? I finally decided this was the perfect excuse to use the 3D printer. Despite never having used one before, I was determined to give it a shot

3D Printing Design

I used Tinkercad, a user-friendly 3D modeling tool, to design my sword. It was simple enough for a beginner like me but powerful enough to create something cool. After finalizing the design, I saved the file in a format the 3D printer could understand and loaded it onto the machine.

Watching the printer in action was mesmerizing. Layer by layer, my sword started to take shape. Once the printing was done, I carefully removed my sword from the printer bed. It felt surreal to hold something I had designed and created. A quick sanding to smooth out the edges and a fresh coat of paint brought my sword to life!
