3D Printed Cat Stand & Snowboard Trail Model

For this session, I worked on two distinct prints: a cat-shaped phone stand and a 3D model of snowboard trail lines. I printed the phone stand because I needed a fun, functional way to prop up my phone on my desk while working. I printed the snowboard trail lines as a personal piece to get hyped for the upcoming winter season and my time out on the slopes.

Printing two very different geometries offered a great learning experience. The snowboard trail lines have very intricate, fine details, and I discovered that significantly lowering the outer wall print speed and reducing the layer height helped capture the sharp curves of the trails without excessive stringing. For the cat stand, I experimented with "tree supports" in the slicer for the overhangs. They were much easier to remove than standard supports and left a pristine surface finish on the final model.
