While my primary research is in the application of high-performance computing systems, I've found it very rewarding to explore networking as well. Network topology, which can impact security, throughput, and latency, is relatively easy to explore even on a home network with a few devices. 3D printing is very helpful in organizing these nonstandard components, and allows for neat management of cables within specially fabricated brackets. This print was a rack mount for a router and several network keystone jacks.
