Unveiling the Mystery inside a Greek Manuscript Binding
The University of Michigan Library and the Detroit Institute of Arts have recently collaborated in a project to produce x-ray images of the hidden structure inside a fourteenth-century Greek manuscript binding.

You Must Judge a Book by its Cover!
This recently acquired edition of two medical commentaries by the sixteenth-century Italian doctor, Leon Roganus Caietanus, is bound in limp vellum with bevelled boards, and the gilded edges of the text block have been expertly decorated, or gauffered, with a special tool.
