One of six pallets that were packed and shipped across the country via UPS.
Processing has begun on the 120+ boxes, which include correspondence, photographs, artifacts, posters, FBI surveillance files from the 1960s and 1970s, writings from Hayden’s days as editor of the Michigan Daily, internal notes relating to Students for a Democratic Society, drafts of speeches, various campaign documents, awards, legislative records, and more.
Mr. Hayden will be making five annual visits to campus to lecture, engage with students, scholars, faculty, librarians, and community members, and participate in public events featuring his papers. Although the papers will not be fully processed until the end of this year, due to high demand they will be open for research on September 22, 2014.
